Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT Limited is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing legal assistance and advocacy to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

Established in 1970, ALS has been serving Indigenous communities for over five decades, striving to uphold their legal rights and promote social justice.

Born out of a protest movement over 50 years ago, the ALS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in NSW and the ACT. It’s an exciting time to be joining us. We recently received additional funding to deliver a range of new programs aimed at addressing systemic issues and driving structural reforms. Employment Opportunities

Positions include solicitors, legal support staff, community legal educators, and administrative roles. Volunteer Opportunities

Since 1970, the ALS has been able to grow because of volunteers lending their skills and time in the fight for justice.

Most volunteer roles at the ALS are for law students undertaking Practical Legal Training. From time to time, we also have volunteer opportunities in other areas of the organisation.
