Situated in the heart of Epping, The Y Leisure City is an awesome recreational facility delivering programs and services in areas such as Aquatics, Health & Fitness and Sports & Recreation for all ages.

The Opportunity

We’re on the lookout for a passionate leader to join our Y Leisure City team in Epping as a casual Duty Manager (Shift Supervisor). As Shift Supervisor you will play a key leadership role for other staff on shift and have the delegated authority of the day-to-day management of the facility. Using your leadership experience and drive to deliver fantastic service, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and professional operation of Y Leisure City across many areas, including customer service, day-to-day operations, safety, staff rostering and more.

Some of the key duties of this role include:

Responsibility for the daily shift management and supervision of staff, including rostering and break allocation.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff whilst on shift.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service/facility.
  • Anticipate and be proactive in managing safety at the centre.
  • Identify specific issues that need to be escalated to senior staff/supervisors.
  • Problem solving whilst on shift, including an ability to suggest ideas and solutions to achieve outcomes.

This is a casual opportunity working approximately 20 hours per week, including some evening and weekend work. The ideal candidate will bring a strong professional commitment and are keen to make a meaningful contribution as Duty Manager (Shift Supervisor).

What we hope you’ll bring

  • A proven ability to lead or manage staff.
  • Customer service experience and a strong work ethic.
  • Previous experience as a duty manager or similar for a large facility.
  • Leisure/sports centre experience is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and initiative to solve problems on shift.
  • A friendly, approachable, and helpful nature with a desire to deliver an excellent customer experience.    
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture that meets the needs of our diverse community.
  • Availability for some night and weekend work.

 Mandatory qualifications

  • Current National police check (less than 6 months old) and employee Working with Children Check.
  • International Police Check if you have lived outside Australia in the last 5 years.
  • Nationally recognised First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009).
