As Australia continues its efforts towards achieving the outcomes outlined in the Closing the Gap report, ourDigital Walkabout initiative aims to target Closing the Gap Outcome 17: ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to information and services enabling participation in informed decision-making regarding their own lives.

The program, spanning two weeks, offers a unique blend of cultural engagement and practical digital skills training. The first week, facilitated by cultural training partner Gadhungal Marring, immerses participants in cultural revitalization activities, fostering integrity, self-worth, and community belonging. Activities such as 'Welcoming to the ways of our ancestors' and 'My Story, Your Story, Our Story' deepen participants' connection to their culture and community.
Transitioning into the second week, participants receive their own laptops and engage in immersive projects covering practical digital skills and employment-specific activities. What sets Digital Walkabout apart is its seamless integration of cultural engagement into digital skills training, ensuring participants remain connected to their culture throughout the program.
Upon completion, participants are awarded units of competency including BSBTEC101 - Operate digital devices, BSBWRT311- Write simple documents, BSBPEF301 - Organise personal work priorities.
