Digital Walkabout

Digital Walkabout is a unique two-week journey that combines cultural engagement with practical digital skills training.  The first week focuses on cultural revitalisation where participants engage with culture, community and developing their integrity, self-worth and belonging. In the second week, the program shifts its focus to developing digital skills. Participants receive their own laptops and engage in various immersive projects covering practical ‘hands on’ digital skills.

Cultural Engagement Week

The first week focuses on cultural revitalisation which seeks to build cultural connections by driving confidence, self-worth and an overwhelming sense of belonging within each participant.  Cultural revitalisation revolves around a framework encompassing five key pillars:

•Welcoming to the ways of our ancestors
•My Story, Your Story, Our Story
•Interconnectedness of everything
•Traditional Practices Roles & Responsibilities
•Culture in Leadership

Digital Skills Week

In the second week, the program shifts its focus to developing digital skills. Participants receive their own laptops and engage in various immersive projects covering practical digital skills, presentation skills, and employment-specific activities.

Participants will take part in Voices of Culture, a team-based project providing a platform to create and deliver their own cultural workshops. Plus they will be guided to develop culturally appropriate digital profiles on our First Nations jobs community HireFirst.
