Wrap around assistance to support school and University students

OVERVIEW

  • Provides wrap-around support for students
  • Eligible for Indigenous young people attending school or university

The GO Foundation scholarship program provides wrap-around assistance to students so they feel supported to get the most from their education. They offer scholarships to Indigenous young people attending school or university.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

GO scholarships help with the costs of educational needs such as uniform, excursions, tutoring and equipment for school, including:

  • laptops, iPads and school devices
  • stationery
  • backpacks
  • textbooks
  • home WiFi for homework.

Note due to the focus on education, GO students cannot use scholarship funds for school fees, sporting equipment or sportswear, driving lessons or entertainment.

GO places culture at the heart of everything they do.  GO Students have opportunities to learn more about their own culture and identity with other Indigenous young people through our Culture Connect Days, Primary school program and alumni network.

Other benefits include acccess and opportunities beyond the scholarship. Their partners provide access to jobs, internships, work experience and career information sessions.

Also, a number of partners give opportunities to students that they may not otherwise be able to engage with, including tickets to sporting and cultural events and access to internet services.

ABOUT THE GO FOUNDATION

As proud Aboriginal men, Adam and Michael have both benefited from their strong connection to culture, which has given them courage. Being connected to culture has also taught them about resilience. It gives them the ability to get through any situation.

The love, care and guidance of incredible Aboriginal women have deeply impacted their lives, especially their mothers who instilled the importance of education, working hard and family and culture.

The GO Foundation started out small and has grown into an Aboriginal led and governed organisation that puts culture at the heart to get better outcomes for our people.

We’ve now provided more than 1,290 scholarships for Indigenous primary, secondary and tertiary students in Sydney, Adelaide and Canberra.

We have culture and identity at the heart of our holistic program for students in Year 1 to university and beyond.
